2008 Census Figures

Back in January, the annual census was conducted by the Scout Association. Each group from the district had to submit a return form detailing the numbers in each youth section and leadership team.

Last year, we reported that the district had grown in numbers for the third consecutive year. I'm once again pleased to announce that we've done it again! For the fourth year in a row, the number of young people and adults in Lea Valley has grown. In the 2007 Census Lea Valley District had 273 members, whilst the 2008 census shows that we now have 311 members - and growing!

Lea Valley's youth membership recorded on the census has increased from 207 in January 07 to an impressive 240 in January 08. Whilst Adult membership has grown to 71

District Commissioner Liz Burnham said "That's wonderful news, it shows that we are both attracting and retaining youth members to our groups. This has got to be down to the enthusiasm of our leaders and the adventurous programmes they are delivering week in week out."

Liz added, "I would like to thank everyone in the district for all their hard work over the past years. Now lets make 2008 better still!".
