07 Census Figures

For the third year in a row, the membership in Lea Valley District has grown. The yearly census of scout members shows 250 members across the 7 groups in the district, along with 23 members of the district team & fellowship.

The youth membership recorded on the census has increased from 193 in January 06 to 207 in January 07. Overall, the census shows, the total number in the district to be 273, up by two from last year.

Since the census was taken at the end of January, two groups have shown a massive increase in the number of cub scouts. Both Strathmore and St. Luke's numbers have gone from 5 or under up to 14 + members.

Slip End cub pack has also had a boost in numbers, from the 14 on the census to an impressive 23 now, they are close on the heels of Beech Hill who have 26 Cubs. Making them the largest Packs in the district, closely followed by  Caddington and Leagrave with 20 Cubs each.

Both Beaver and Scout Sections have shown an increase in numbers too! With all the publicity about the Scouting Centenary, at this present moment in time, we believe that  there are over 300 members in Lea Valley!

Alan Burnham, Lea Valley's caretaker DC, on hearing the census figures said "a BIG well done to everybody!! Thanks for all you are doing!!".
