At
11am on Sunday 12th November, members of Lea Valley Scout District Remembered
the service men and women who have given their lives for the peace and
freedom we enjoy today. District Members attended local services across the Luton area, including services in
Caddington, Slip End, Luton Town Centre and in Leagrave.
In the picture above, you can see members of Lea, Leagrave & St. Luke's
Scout Groups. Along with members of Lea Valley District & Fellowship,
all assembled with the local Territorial Army Cadets, on guard, and
members from The Royal British Legion (Leagrave & Limbury Branch) at the
War Memorial on Marsh Road.
Scouting Wreaths were laid at the memorial on behalf of: the District
(by Conner from Leagrave Scout Troop); the District Fellowship; and
Leagrave Scout Group.
At 11 o'clock, the cannon sounded to mark the start of the two minute
silence. After the firing of the second cannon at 11.02am a trumpeter
played The Last Post and Reveille, after which Father Thomas Singh said
the exhortation:
"They shall not grow old, as we that are
left grow old
Age shall not weary them nor the years
condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning
We will remember them"
The parade then marched back to the Main
Hall at the Royal British Legion Headquarters for a Service of
Remembrance.
Strathmore Scout Group Attended the
Remembrance Service at the War Memorial in Luton Town Centre, after
marching through the town with veterans and their families. Pictured
below, preparing to parade through the town centre.

Both Caddington and Slip End Scout Groups
attended their local village Service of Remembrance. Both laying wreaths
and Remembrance Crosses at their War Memorials.
Remembrance Sunday is the day traditionally
put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace
and freedom we enjoy today. On this day people across the nation pause
to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave Service men and women.
