Silence is Golden |
|
You wouldn't
normally associate Cub Scouts and total silence, however, the Cubs at
Lea Scout Group in Lea Valley spent an entire evening staying silent and
even took part in a totally silent Grand Howl ceremony at the beginning of the
evening.
 So why the
silent treatment? The Cubs were holding a sponsored silence to raise
money for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day.
During their
silent evening the Cubs made Mothers Day & Easter Cards and
also made some chocolate covered peppermint creams.
"I am very pleased that all the Cubs have
managed to stay silent through out the evening, it is a wonderful
achievement" their Akela, Adrian Samm, said. He continued by saying that
"The Cubs were all sponsored to stay silent for the entire hour and a
half meeting, and collectively have raised over £300 for Comic Relief".

Other groups around the District held
special Comic Relief themed evenings during the week, where the Cubs
were encouraged to wear their Red Noses and to think about the lives of
the people who Comic Relief helps.
The meetings involved playing games that
were biased towards one group of people and taking part in wealth
sharing activities where 80% of the goodies went to only 20% of the
people taking part. |
