Leagrave & Lea Scouts
Investiture |
|
 |
It is true
what they say about scouts and what they get up to in the wood. During a
recent camp at Harmergreen Woods, just outside of Welwyn, members of the
newly re-opened Leagrave Scout Troop and members |
|
of Lea Scout Troop were invested as Scouts.
Pictured above, the scouts hold their troop flag and prepare to make the
Scout Promise in front of the 17 cub scouts and assembled leaders.
This marked a historic occasion as not only
has it been just a year since the cub pack re-opened at Leagrave, it is
also the Scout Groups 50th Anniversary.
Group Scout Leader John Rees said: "It is
amazing that this has ever happened. 18 months ago we just had a Beaver
Colony keeping the group alive. We now have beavers, cubs and scouts, a
shining example of how Scouting's Adventure is still alive in the
community. We couldn't have achieved this without the support from both
the leaders in the group or without the district support team, a huge
thank you goes out to them all." |

Graham
Stone, scout leader for Leagrave, invested 7 "new" scouts during the
weekend camp, where they also learned some valuable scouting skills
like: camping skills, fire building & lighting, axe skills and
pioneering. |
|
The Scouts
also enjoyed a camp fire and when the cubs were safely tucked up in bed,
sat around telling ghost stories. |
